a mosaic of different icons

Beautiful sets of icons are plentifully available throughout web. However, oftentimes they’re being chosen by designers who will download them which instantly localizes the icons. Or maybe they use IcoMoon of Font Awesome to create a font that can be embedded in a project. This can be a hassle for developers as they have to re-import the font or individual icons whenever an icon is added or modified.

A better solution is to remove the icons from the project and deliver them via CDN (content delivery network). This is where the content is hosted separately from your site and you call the data you want to display. This can also allow your website to load quicker if your customer has already download that content from a previous website.

IcoMoon and Font Awesome do have this service, but this service also has a yearly cost. This is certainly worth it for custom icons designed specifically for your product, but oftentimes an existing icon set can more than satisfy the needs of your product.

Below is a list of beautiful icon sets with a CDN for instant use for both designers and developers.

1. Font Awesome

Use Font Awesome Icons

Most designers and developers are already aware of Font Awesome. Their regular updates, large community support and huge icon variety makes them an easy option for your next project. Only downside can be the familiarity of the icons can lack unique individuality for your product and a limited number of free icons with a cost to unlock the full set.

2. Remixicon

Use Remixicon Icons

With 2271 icons and growing, Remixicon is a set which can cover most of your product icon needs. The set has eye-relaxing symmetry and often has more than one option for single icon types.
