14 Important UX Questions to Include in Your Mobile Application Survey

It is important to include your target audience in every aspect. I mean, they are the reason why you are building your product, right? With the data collected from a survey, you will be able to accelerate your process to a whole greater level due to the insights and feedback given. From a User Experience Designer’s perspective, you can never go wrong with having a strong foundation based on the users’ wants and needs. For Product Managers, I’m sure you would want to have a new method to progress faster. And by conducting user surveys, you are able to achieve that.

Are you unsure of what to include in your surveys? Here are the top 14 questions you can ask!

Survey Questions

  1. What do you like most about the mobile application?
    To find out what do the users generally like about the mobile application (colours, branding, font, interface, clean, straightforward, etc).
  2. What do you like the least about the mobile application?
    To find out what the users dislike about the mobile application so you can consider removing it if majority doesn’t like it. Otherwise, you can find out ways to improve it.
  3. Which feature would you likely use the most?
    To find out what are the features that are important to the users that is able to help increase their efficiency.
  4. How often would you use it?
    To find out if the mobile application is effective enough for the users to use it often.
  5. Are there any features that you think you need but are missing in the mobile application? Describe.
    To find out what are the missing features in the mobile application that the users need or think is important to have.
  6. How is the navigation of the mobile application?
    To find out if the navigation of the mobile application is smooth and easy to understand for the users.
  7. What is your goal when you want to use the mobile application?
    To find out what do they want to achieve when they enter the mobile application.
  8. With the existing features, does the mobile application help you to achieve your goals? How?
    To find out if the features available currently helps them with achieving their goals. This way, we are able to know if we have a missing puzzle.
  9. Describe a situation which the mobile application is the most useful to you.
    To find out if the scenario they are visioning is on par with what we are aiming to do with the mobile application.
  10. On a scale of 1 to 5, rate your experience using the mobile application.
    To measure how the users generally feel when they use the product.
  11. On a scale of 1 to 5, rate the interface of the mobile application.
    To measure what they think about the look and feel of the product.
  12. On a scale of 1 to 5, rate the intuitiveness of the icons.
    To measure how inherent the iconography is in the interface. If it’s not, then the Graphic Designer needs to work harder.
  13. On a scale of 1 to 5, rate the loading speed of the mobile application.
    To measure how fast or slow the loading speed is to the users. Normal loading speed for a mobile application is 2 seconds. Anything more than that, you will have a problem.
  14. What do you think the mobile application should improve on?
    To find out specifically from the users how we can refine the mobile application and what they expect the future product to be.

Additional Tips

In summary, this is what you should look out for when you want to draft your own survey questions:

  • For a more qualitative feedback, ask open-ended questions that starts with “What”, “Why”, “Which” and “Describe” because you will able to get more insights.
  • With close-ended questions, it is able to help you if you are aiming for a quantitative feedback. This happens if you want to get straight-forward data, or if you are having time constraint.
