AI’s 11 limitations for building digital products —an honest review

Each tool has its limitations — AI is no different. In this article I will try to describe frequent limitations of AI that I have encountered in my UX Projects for the past few years.

Is AI intelligent?

First, let’s dispel the myth that AI is truly intelligent — it’s not. AI, short for Artificial Intelligence, is currently at a stage where it functions as a statistical mechanism. It operates on a vast amount of data — far more than a human would need to perform the same task — and provides predictions, such as the next word in a sentence. This is the essence of Large Language Models — don’t be misled.

It’s not that AI isn’t useful — it is — but it’s not magical. We understand how it works because we built it. While we can’t predict the exact answers AI will provide, it’s not a black box because its workings is a mystery; it’s a black box because it processes millions of pieces of information to give you an answer.
