I hate this style more than anything. I don't mind Web Brutalism with regards to boxes around things, big square pictures, and flat colors, but I absolutely hate how tacky emojis are.
It makes sense that in the endless tacky grift of cryptocurrency…

Is boxmoji the UX equivalent of neoclassical revival?

Actually, I think it's more like postmodernism with cartoony references to classical traits of early internet design but also maintaining the minimalist logics of flat design (analogous to modernism).
Boxmoji is internet PoMo.
