‘Value added’

“Brands and designers often race single-mindedly to perfect something as though it’s a work of art. But design has no inherent value.” — Taku Satoh.

Value is just a buzzword to emphasize on meaning. Function without meaning is a malfunction. As noted, meaning is not always intended. But a good design process takes this uncertainty into account by iteration and validation.
