Why a UX Playbook?
As a digital product designer, my role has always been to build and enhance the connections between the users, the business and the product itself. Over the years I’ve learnt that it is our job to make sure that:
- We satisfy our users and build a product that meets their needs and relieves their current pain points.
- Onboard developers with our designs and make sure they are technically feasible.
- We meet business goals.
In order to achieve this, we need to constantly talk to all of those 3 arms of the organization and have a process to make that possible.
We already know those things Ioannis, I hear you say. So why am I writing all this?
Well, there is no right way to do UX and Product Design. But there is a way to have a structure. This Playbook was out of necessity for me to make order out of chaos especially when I wanted to introduce DesignOps in my previous workplace and create a playbook of methodologies and strategies that will help the Design Team ship better experiences and give a better structure on how we hire talent and how might we build a better culture.
That’s why I started creating my own version of a Product Design Playbook using Notion as a tool of choice. I still experiment with different methodologies and I modify it as I go along. I encourage you to do the same and perhaps use it as a foundation.
Here is the Notion page that you can copy and have it on your own account: https://www.notion.so/UX-Product-Design-Playbook-c1463a5c5eeb4a41957538977198a1de
