What is psychological safety?

Why is psychological safety more than just a “nice to have”?

What happens if we don’t have psychological safety?

What happens when there isn’t a culture of safety. ‘I don’t want to appear negative’ (I won’t challenge the status quo), ‘I don’t want to look ignorant’ (I won’t ask any questions), ‘I don’t want to seem intrusive’ (I won’t offer my ideas), ‘I don’t want to look incompetent’ (I won’t display vulnerability or admit any mistakes)

Why does leadership behaviour matter so much in building psychological safety?

“If you want to create a more inclusive environment, don’t shut people down. Thank them for being willing to share their thoughts. You may very well disagree with them in private, but doing so publicly does not serve anyone.”

Team building

Anxiety Party Hotjar. How it works: Step 1 (10min): Everyone silently writes down (on paper) your own work anxieties. Step 2 (10–15 min/person): 1. 1st person shares one of their anxieties 2. Facilitator asks all to enter a score from 1–5 in the chat at the same time 3. People explain their score (optional). What the scores mean 0–1: You should “throw away” the anxiety as it isn’t affecting your team 4–5 (from multiple people): Team should discuss potential solutions to relief pressure for all

Much needed this in all the workplace. The workplace where I work has a very rigid way of doing work.

Great piece! Thoughtful, informative and very practical (thanks for the frameworks)

I found this article interesting and worth emulating in a group setting.
Could you please illustrate more on Regular check-ins?
