Paying millions of dollars for a work of art is nothing new, but paying millions of dollars for digital paintings, memes, and GIFs is. Nowadays, collectors are eager to part ways with some pretty hefty money to snag top NFTs and cash in on the mania that’s taken over the digital art market. And although you could have heard about it all, what you might not know is who is behind this art precisely. Or, maybe, what is.

Until recently, NFTs have resulted from human ingenuity aided by technological means. If you browse the world’s major NFT markets like Nifty Gateway or OpenSea, you are more than likely to come across artwork created by people.

The Advent of Generative NFT Art

NFTs were established as a critical component of blockchain technology and the cryptocurrency industry in 2021, with over $25 billion in sales demonstrating their value. According to a recent analysis produced by Nonfungible.com, NFTs accounted for almost 16% of the Global Art Market in terms of value last year.

NFT generative art is a fledgling and constantly developing ecosystem inside the crypto realm that has arisen as an alternative to the silliness of conventional art. By introducing a new creative medium that is digitally native, the movement profoundly questions our understanding of what constitutes art and how society communicates its common ideals via art.

Furthermore, the proliferation of NFTs should propel the adoption of AI-based NFTs. Endless possibilities arise, as the algorithm, or a variant of it, might be leveraged to paint parts of the metaverse’s limitless walls and modify them according to the user’s mood for the day.

DALL-E — the convergence of technology and creativity

Prepare yourself because your next favorite artist may be an AI application — and it’s something you’re doubtful to have ever stumbled across before — and DALL-E is the top candidate for this spot!

In January 2021, Elon Musk’s OpenAI group — supported financially by Microsoft — announced its most ambitious project yet, the DALL-E machine learning system. This clever multimodal AI was capable of producing visuals (although quite comical ones)…
