Can I submit a case study?

Our case studies are now published on Bootcamp: a new design publication that is focused on highlighting the best case studies in our industry.

If you’re looking to publish your case study in a design publication and reach a broader audience, the case study needs to be rewritten to be less about your process (everyone’s process is somewhat the same), and more about your learnings and how readers (fellow designers) can apply those same learnings into their own projects.

It’s all about tailoring the right story for the right context:

  • When people are visiting your portfolio website they are likely considering hiring you, and are willing to spend more time diving into your process, thinking, and insights.
  • When you publish your case study on Medium, people are stumbling upon it from all corners of the internet. They are not interested in hiring you; what they are really interested in is improving their skills as designers. How can your case study teach them something new?

You can also check some examples of case studies we prioritize:

  • Making memory loss easier for families — the story and title are focused on the user problem, not on what the project was (e.g. “Redesigning a responsive website”)
  • Why do we have to use so many platforms? — it’s short and sweet, and you don’t even feel like you’re reading a case study; doesn’t follow the expected templated process taught by design schools
  • How pop culture helps me design — it’s not about this one specific project, but about how this designer is heavily influenced by pop culture in their work; does not show the process step by step

Once you’re done writing a new version of your case study for the UX Collective, check out this link to learn how to submit it:
