Duolingo, this is what you are missing — a UX analysis

Beautiful app.

The app never asked me the reason WHY I wanted to learn Portuguese.

💬Questions started bubbling in my head:

After looking for answers on Google for 30 minutes, the results were:

NONE 👀

No concrete results for duolingo completion rate.

While intrinsic motivation is often seen as the ideal, both extrinsic motivation and intrinsic motivation are important ways of driving behavior.

I started learning Japanese in Duolingo earlier this year just for the sake of my Japan trip in August. I did, reached 100-day streaks, non-stop learning every day for around 6 months. After the trip ended, I never bother to open it again.

Maria, I appreciate the lens of motivation through which you have looked at the app, and definitely agree that the app would benefit from listing goals and interest areas. However, there are a couple of things I would like to point out.
