Is it too late to get into UX in 2020?

The field of User Experience has been growing astronomically over the past couple of decades along with technological needs and advancements. If you’re new to UX design or you aspire to get in on this massively expanding ­­industry, you might be wondering if you’re too late to the game. I would like to go over some ways that the role of a UXer is evolving and what it means for those who want to pursue a career in UX now.

Why User Experience?

User Experience has become a highly coveted career path promising a flexible work-life balance, rewarding work that involves exciting challenges and problem-solving, high pay (median annual salary of $93,000 in the U.S.), and multiple avenues for career growth (view source here). But with these desirable attributes comes high competition and expectations that end up weeding out the ones who can’t or won’t put in the time and effort that it takes to stand out.

There are some questions you need to ask yourself before diving into the pursuit of a UX career. Are you naturally curious and inquisitive? Do you enjoy problem solving? Do you work well in teams?
