When working with tech teams, your job is to help your engineers make great user-centred decisions. Designing ML systems is a creative process for its programmers too. Getting too prescriptive too quickly can inhibit the creativity of your engineering counterparts. Trust them to use their intuition, encourage experimentation and user testing. Training a model is a slow process and tools for visualisation aren’t great. So engineers frequently need to use their imaginations when tuning an algorithm. Try to inspire your tech teams with decks, stories, prototypes, videos to get them excited about the end goal. Your ability to influence the product effectively depends greatly on your engineering team being comfortable with iterations and is great for the robustness of your ML pipeline.
