I’m a self-taught UX/UI designer who started out freelancing and transitioned into being a full-time in-house designer. When I first started out, the biggest challenge was to gather resources to start conceptualizing what my portfolio would look like, but also gather the technical knowledge to execute them. If you’re an inspiring designer looking to kickstart your career in UX/UI design, then look no further. I’ve collected helpful resources for you to start building your design portfolio.

Create a Domain

If you want your portfolio to look professional, I highly recommend purchasing a domain from Google Domains, GoDaddy, or BlueHost. When creating a domain name, be sure to include your full name. When recruiters or clients check out your website, you want to make your domain easy to remember. Include URLs with .com or .org as they are universally more common then .io. If you own a licensed agency, go with the company’s brand name instead of your personal name. A domain URL can be the first and last name.
