This phenomenon also applies to UX. I have seen many cases where, just for the fact that the tool throws something appealing to the given prompt, it is assumed as usable and flawless vs the actual processes and experience of the UX/UI designer, sad times...

We countered this a little with pre-agreed upon rigorous stress testing, QA metrics, and acceptance testing. But it usually only gives you "I told you so" cred for later.

people assume they grasp how complex systems work simply because they’ve built a polished front-end.

"it will be a simple job: i just need you to make a blank page with an input box and the word 'Google' on it. How difficult can be?"
