“Marie Kondo” your Sketch files with these plugins
When your project stops to spark joy, try these tools.

We all know how the initial exploration phase of a project can easily lead to a complete mess of a Sketch file. Layer names are all over the place, symbols scattered around only god knows where, each style has multiple clones and so on.
Luckily for us Sketch has a very active community of plugins developers who experienced the same exact problems and made a tool to make everyone’s life easier (a round of applause for them, please).
There are tons of plugins out there, these are the ones I use to tidy up my files and do the “Marie Kondo” on them.
Rename it

This plugin lets you batch renaming layers and artboards, using keywords to establish a naming convention based on current name and/or width, height, numeric sequence etc…
Definitely a must have.
Style Generator

Styles Generator allows you to select any amount of layers (text, shapes, or all of them at once), and generate multiple Shared Styles named exactly like the layer itself.
So it’s ideal to create an artboard with sample texts and tiles with the styles you want to create, then select all of them and use the plugin to generate the styles all at once.
Style Remover

This works well along with the previous one.
In case you generated styles you don’t actually need, you can check which ones are not currently used and get rid of them in a click.
Merge Duplicate Symbols

This merges symbols with the same name. Choose the one you want to keep and press OK. The other symbols will be removed, and all of their instances will be replaced by the one you chose to keep.
Symbol Organizer

This is probably my favorite. I run it compulsively every new symbol I create.
You can decide a series of settings in order to define how to organize your symbols page.
Symbol Organizer also allows you to remove unused symbols!
This is truly a must-have.
Sketch Notebook — (not free)
This is more for handoff, not really to organize your file, but I think it’s worth a mention.
This plugin lets you add notes on your artboard and automatically creates a list of such notes on the side.
Sure, you can always use Zeplin, but if for any reason you can’t, this might be a good substitute.
I’ll try to update this article whenever I find a new plugin that makes sense in the list. Stay tuned.
