Human beings are inherently social creatures. With few exceptions, people strive for a feeling of connection with others. Whether it’s with individuals or within larger groups, most of us want to participate in the social dance of belonging. Because of this, many of us have internalized a system (or systems) of rules for behavior when it comes to interacting with others.
