This article is in response to the following pieces of knowledge / wisdom / research that has been expressed over the last several years on the subject matters of User Experience, Usability, and Customer Success:

  • NPS isn’t the be-all-end-all
  • SUS isn’t the be-all-end-all
  • Customer Satisfaction isn’t the be-all-end-all
  • “Don’t just create an MVP, create an MLP (Minimum Lovable Product)”
  • Great design is all about preferred experiences
  • Great design is all about delightful & joyful experiences
  • Great design is all about simplicity, ease-of-use, and user-friendliness
  • Great design needs to be accessible, ethical, inclusive, and ultimately empathetic.
  • Minimalism != Simplicity and vice versa
  • “Don’t Make Me Think”

I can go on and on, but why does this all matter? If we can’t measure how successful the UX that we’ve designed is, then we can’t prove the effectiveness of the work that we’ve done right? “If you can’t measure it, you can’t manage it” after all, meaning you can’t place a…
