Why would a manager do this? Well, this behaviour makes you “look” better than your colleagues, and this is “anti-Jante”.

Wow, this is a misrepresentation and then some. I’m not sure it it’s hyperbole or if you really think this, but I find it dishonest.
I’ve never in my life heard of anyone being chided for working late, due to Jante law.
