UX Design
Two brands that decided to focus on women and that are now thriving

Over the decades there has been a rise in number of working women in almost every field, may it be science, engineering, manual labour, entrepreneurship, art, design or anything else. Many women now have successful ventures in different fields.
There has been a significant representation of women in many areas, which means — not only more business in the future, but also more visibility, diverse products and a market that exists only for women.
Women drive over 70% of all consumer purchasing!
Women, in general, have a separate market compared to men. Even though there is a significant pay gap between men and women, the market for women has increased and flourished.
Despite more number of men earning higher salaries in the world, it’s the women who do maximum shopping. From groceries to essentials, and from household items to luxury goods, from their children’s diapers to their own gold and diamond jewelry — women are very strongly involved in almost all purchasing decisions.
Indian women are owners of over 11% of all the gold in the world, and the women in India, only constitute around 25% of the work-force in the country. Isn’t that crazy?
But how does it matter in UX?
It does, and it is also going to change the shape of UX in future. If you look closely at any product that you’re designing that represents some form of e-commerce, or an app that sells goods and services, a higher percentage of users will always be females.
While men are absolutely okay to use that one liquid soap as hand-wash, face-wash, shampoo, car-wash and dog-wash — women use more than 16 beauty products every single day. Now using 16 products, means owning at least 1600 of them! (Kidding…the number is even bigger)
There are many women-centric applications that are doing simply amazing in India, and the top two of them, that I will discuss purely from the user-experience perspective are — Nykaa and Zivame.
