In the 1960s all radios in the Soviet Union were huge. In the 1950s America and Japan had hundreds of thousands of portable radios made. VEF pioneered a (USSR) market, not a product.

It is easier to look at high-profile competition than to innovate or search for user needs. Marketing should also study the ecological impact of these needs if they want to preserve consumers.
