Good design is always been a clear success to many of the big companies in the world. The good design has been a interest, which has been increased in the past couple of decades. So it has been a question for product manufacturer that what really is the boundary of a design to be good? What is the impact of the design on the final product?
The skillful use of good design can create experiences which are emotionally attractive to the product. The product is easier to use and communicates its functionality with clarity, which is attractive to the end-user. The characteristics of good design can increase the credibility of the company and influence the decision of the customers. The proper use of good design on the product can affect the emotions, build credibility, and earn trust in the product. The main benefit of a good design is it makes the product easier to use for the end-user. In order to achieve this on a product, the design should be understood holistically.
What Design really is?
Steve Jobs once said, “In most people’s vocabularies, design is a veneer. It’s interior decorating. It’s the fabric of the curtains of the sofa. But to me, nothing could be further from the meaning of design. Design is the fundamental soul of a human-made creation that ends up expressing itself in successive outer layers of the product.”. The design is many layers, which are interconnected with different factors and finally manifests itself has the User experience of the product. The careful integration of all the layers of design will make a design beautiful, user friendly and successful in reaching the intent of the product to the end user.
The design need to work the limitations of the technology which is used to create the design, shapes, controls and colors. All this are very much linked together forming the complete design of the product providing a unique experience to the user differentiating other products.
